JonBenet Ramsey Case - Gary Oliva Phone Confessions

December 26, 2018 prison call excerpt

This is an excerpt of one call  A call placed in December 26, 2018.  In this recording, Gary Oliva and Michael Vail reflect on the 22nd anniversary of JonBenet's death.  Michael understood the date of her death to be the 25th of December, and Gary corrects him stating it was the 26th.  He says, "She was alive and beautiful on Christmas Day and she was riding a bicycle."  Gary then added "everything happened on the 26th" including the phone calls.  Gary gets emotional (crying) and characterizes the events as bad timing. 

December 2017 prison call (excerpt)

This is an excerpt of one call during December 2017.  In this recording, Gary Oliva and Michael Vail talk about Gary's medication.  Gary explained it helps him with guilt, remorse and grieving over what happened to JonBenet.  He said the whole thing was really sad.  Then the conversation switches to the origin of his nickname for JonBenet being Emerald Eyes or the Emerald Girl.  Gary explained that whenever he would enter stores he would see photos of JonBenet with photoshopped blue eyes and that would "piss" him off because he knew JonBenet had green eyes.   

December 31, 2017 nearly complete prison call

This recording is nearly a complete call.  This call took place on New Years Eve, December 31, 2017.  In this recording, Gary Oliva shares with Michael Vail his desire to write about his experience concerning JonBenet.  He said at that time he was consuming a lot of alcohol from the restaurant he worked at.  That's where he was when her learned that JonBenet had died.  They discussed this was when he had called Michael.  Gary explained that in light of what had happened to JonBenet it saved him from doing much worse to others.  He believed he was heading down the path to do serious harm.      

2020 Prison Call (excerpts)

This is an excerpt of one call.  This call took place in during 2020.  In this recording, Gary Oliva admitted to Michael "If I had never done that nothing would have come of that". Gary is referring to the death as a positive to finding peace through JonBenet.  The conversation switches to a discussion about the stationery used to write the ransom note.  While the majority of the world believes the note was write on lined white paper, Gary knew it was actually written on a yellow legal pad.  The killer would know that. unique needs of each client.

Forensic Document Examination

In light of Gary Oliva's discussion with Michael Vail explaining details of the ransom note.  This video presentation is overlays made to determine the legitimacy of Oliva's description that the ransom note was written in a Junior Legal Pad or the full-sized yellow legal pad.  This overlay analysis concludes that Oliva accurately described that the ransom note was written on the smaller yellow pad, a significant detail that only law enforcement and the author of the ransom note would know.
